365 People in my journey of life
One of the most important influences in my life was my maternal grandfather - known to six siblings as "Granddad". He lived just in the lane about 500 yards from my house. His stories of growing up without a mother (she died when he was nine years old) were always so intriguing. But his faith in God is want influenced me the most. Even in the mist of poverty he had faith that God would supply all his needs and I never saw that fail. His hard work ethics instilled in me a commitment to the same ideals. His life spanned a century of drastic changes and he always said, "I want to live until I die" - meaning he didn't want to set around doing nothing in old age. He was out planting apple trees when he was ninety eight years old and we said to him, "Grandad, you will never see the fruit of this labor', but he said, 'but you will". God blessed him with a long life - he lived to the ripe old age of 103.
