New gaggets

Any new technology is fascinating to the young people but they sure don't stay with it for long when something new comes out. Its such a waste of time and resources to be buying all the new gaggets continually. I'll stick with the old style email - much less complicated - thank you.

Sisters

After having two sisters visiting over the weekend, I'm thinking of how they have influenced my life over the many years. When we were younger getting together wasn't always pleasant. Our kids didn't get along or we struggled with problems within our marriages. Now that all three of us are widows we have much in common and love one another dearly. Our faith in God sustains us and brings us together in more love and care for one another. I'm so glad God put us together in this family.

365 People in my journey of life

One of the most important influences in my life was my maternal grandfather - known to six siblings as "Granddad". He lived just in the lane about 500 yards from my house. His stories of growing up without a mother (she died when he was nine years old) were always so intriguing. But his faith in God is want influenced me the most. Even in the mist of poverty he had faith that God would supply all his needs and I never saw that fail. His hard work ethics instilled in me a commitment to the same ideals. His life spanned a century of drastic changes and he always said, "I want to live until I die" - meaning he didn't want to set around doing nothing in old age. He was out planting apple trees when he was ninety eight years old and we said to him, "Grandad, you will never see the fruit of this labor', but he said, 'but you will". God blessed him with a long life - he lived to the ripe old age of 103.

365 people in my journey of life

I am going to try to write a few words about people that have had an influence on my life. 365 may be a huge task to undertake but it's a goal to strive for.

Thing #23

I'M FINISHED!!! To sum up this experience -WOW!!! What is available in cyberspace is beyond what I want to know. I will go back to Generator and will definitely look at Flickr more. The majority of the "things" did not interest me but it was a good experience. Thanks to the challenge I feel a little more confident in searching and finding what I want. However its amazing how much is out there but can't be trusted like Wikpedia. What a great idea to have all this information available but then if we have to wonder if its true what good is it? I can see where a lot of these web sights would be very helpful to librarians in disseminating information but for the average person its mind boggling. I'm up for another challenge though. Bring it on!

Thing #22

Well I tried this podcast thing again and it still freezes on me so am going to delete it. It's much easier to go directly to the web sight through my regular browser and listen that way. I did register at NetLibrary and am anxious to try this "thing" with eBooks. Although there's nothing better than curling up with a good book to read I'm willing to give this new method a try. Better yet, just setting on my porch and enjoying the scenery is much more relaxing. This was my side yard last fall.

Thing #21

I downloaded a podcast reader (ipodder) so as to listen to subscribed podcasts but its not very clear as to how or what I did. All I know is that I was able to listen to one of my favorite devotional sights. As it was downloading a couple more for me to listen to the sight froze and after working with it for an hour I gave up. The time spent on this "thing" is not worth it. Thanks but no thanks.
